Dropbox: another little known gem

Continuing with my theme of “how did i not know about this app?” i’ve been using a free little gem called Dropbox for a while now and find it to be one of those apps that you wonder how you ever got along without.

Dropbox is a cross platform app, so once installed your files are available regardless of which platform you used to put the files in your Dropbox. Its so easy to use and speed depends upon your internet connection since its a virtual drive that mounts up on your computer and you can copy and move files to and from with ease just as if it was a physical drive on your computer, but gives you the ability to take your files with you without actually carrying them on a disk or flashdrive. Go check it out at http://www.getdropbox.com/ The usages of this little gem are so vast and varied, but if nothing else, its a great place to store those little apps you always need when you are trying to diagnose other peoples computers but may not have with you at the time. Or maybe you need to take a project with you to a meeting, drop the files in here as well, just in case the disk you burned doesn’t work or you forget to bring the flashdrive with everything on it.  The free Dropbox gives you 2 gig of storage, with more space available if you want to pay for the service.

To me, a small virtual drive that is accessible from everywhere just seems like a no-brainer when it comes to being prepared.
