Celebrating National Coffee Day with a cuppa & some blogging

I decided to take a departure from my typical ramblings about tech and gadgets, and instead write about another of my favorite topics, Coffee.

Today, September 29th, is National Coffee Day, well, at least it is in the USA and by proximity, Canada.  I’m not certain the day is celebrated worldwide. Even though the drink itself certainly is enjoyed nearly everywhere.

Coffee:  It’s an acquired taste, in fact I didn’t enjoy the stuff until my mid-teens, and only really started to be a coffeeholic  when I started working full-time in an office.  Something about stress and crazy workloads make me go searching for a fresh pot of hot dark liquid.  It doesn’t really have any nutritional value in it although some studies indicate a cup a day is good for you, but it is one of the most consumed beverages in the world and especially North America.  Depending upon what studies and surveys you read, it typically falls third behind water and tea.  Non-alcoholic beverages that is, otherwise it seems to fall behind beer and wine in consumption too.

It’s been around for centuries and is enjoyed throughout the world in various forms and flavours, and is one of the few beverages that people claim to help wake them up AND calm them down.  Regardless of your reason for drinking it, grab yourself a cup whether it be home brewed or from your local coffee shop, and enjoy it as you peruse all the latest news and blogs of the day.  There is something soothing about drinking a hot cup of coffee that makes you slow down even if only for a few moments and reflect, or at least gather your thoughts so you can concentrate on the important things.  You know, like wading through all my past blog entries you may have missed.
